Service upgrade

Panel upgrades and sub-panels.

Older panels cannot carry a modern house. We upsize the service, label every circuit, and leave you room for the things you have not bought yet.

How we work

A panel is the one thing you only want done once.

Most panels in older Alberta homes were sized for a house that did not have a hot tub, an EV, a shop heater and a kitchen full of modern appliances. When a service runs out of capacity it does not usually fail dramatically. It nuisance trips, it runs warm, and it quietly stops you adding anything else.

An upgrade is a permitted job with an inspection, and it is worth doing properly. We calculate the actual load rather than defaulting to whatever number is common, run the new service, and label every circuit so the next person who opens that door is not guessing. Sub-panels are often the better answer for a shop, garage or basement development, and we will tell you when that is the cheaper route.

Best electrician I have worked with! His communication was great, bill was not a surprise, everything was done to code and done well, and he was super patient with the on going nature of the renovations we were doing.

Excellent service and fair price. Fit my small job into his busy schedule when everyone else was at least 2 weeks out. Explained everything and was super thorough.

Before you call

Panel questions.

Common signs are breakers that trip when several things run at once, no space left for new circuits, or a panel old enough that replacement breakers are hard to find. If you are planning an EV charger, hot tub or shop, capacity is worth checking before you buy the equipment.

Yes. Service and panel work in Alberta is permitted and inspected, and that is a good thing rather than a hurdle. It means an independent set of eyes confirms the work. We handle the process so you are not chasing paperwork yourself.

Often, yes. If the main service still has capacity and you just need circuits in a shop, garage or basement, a sub-panel gets you there for less. We look at your actual load first and tell you honestly which route makes sense for the work you are planning.

Yes. Workmanship is guaranteed for two years. Hardware usually carries its own manufacturer warranty on the part itself, but the labour to remove and replace a faulty component is charged separately. We tell you which applies before the work goes ahead.
